The first ever Lucas Oil Roadshow for Schools will take place this month at a school in Buckinghamshire. The theme will be “Appliance of Science”.
In two presentations, a total of around 400 senior school students between the ages of 16-17 will learn how science and technology has been applied to automotive applications. Other schools around the UK will later get the chance to host similar events.
This exciting new project was conceived and established by two UK drivers of drag racing cars who are currently sponsored by the Lucas Oil brand. Geoff Stilwell set a World Land Speed Record earlier this year and achieved a top speed of 265.626mph in his 1927 Team 7707 Salt Shaker Model T dragster. Tony Betts owns and drives the Venom Racing Team Funny Car.
The Lucas Oil Roadshow for Schools is an extension of Lucas Oil’s grass roots to top rank performance strategy. It is designed to grab the attention of young people and explain how science is applied to the development of automotive applications. Students will learn first-hand how this led to the construction of both race cars.
As one of the world’s largest manufacturers of oils, workshop lubricants and problem-solving additives, Lucas Oil is US brand is associated with almost every kind of motorsport from Moto X to track racing motorcycles, cars, dragsters and monster trucks.
