Driveshafts and CV joints come under increasing pressure during the winter months. If the boots on the CV joints split, water ingress and salt can corrode the internals of the joint. After a very wet winter and with the ongoing poor quality of some UK roads, the combination results in high-demand in the aftermarket for these parts throughout the year.
The success of Shaftec’s range is due to providing a complete solution for customers. Choosing Shaftec ensures a great product, accurately catalogued and with same-day delivery. With the varying options of vehicles available – petrol/diesel, manual/automatic/CVT/SMG/ Tiptronic, ABS/ Non-ABS – the range meets the aftermarket need to be extremely comprehensive. With access to order from over 5,000 re-manufactured driveshaft parts and 1,200 CV joints, covering over 17,000 vehicles, FPS’ quick delivery and easy availability saves garages stocking the entire portfolio.
There are some vehicles which have higher and sometimes premature driveshaft and CV joint failure rates on the OEM product fitting by the VMs. Examples include:
FO234R FOR FORD FOCUS ST MK2 2.5 (2005>)
Reasons for driveshaft failure on this model typically include the inner flange leaking grease and then running dry. The 3 roller bearings rub against the housing causing metal-to-metal friction. A groove is created, causing vibration on gear change. The Focus ST is highly torqued and quick acceleration can put extra pressure on the transmission system, causing premature failure.
CV1222N FOR VOLVO XC90 3.2 (2010>)
The OEM driveshaft and CV joint fitted as standard by Volvo are known to have a high premature failure rate. The Volvo XC90 CV joints are known for having a brittle ABS ring, which corrodes and breaks with usage of the vehicle.
Significant cost savings can be made by using good quality “remanufactured” parts, which work just as well as brand new parts. Every Shaftec driveshaft has a unique batch number, to control the production process throughout the build cycle. Any driveshaft with visual signs of damage, not consistent with wear and tear, will not enter into the remanufacturing process. These and other tight controls, ensure only the highest quality remanufactured driveshafts are sold on. Inspections and all necessary checks are carried out throughout the process.
Range development is fundamental to Shaftec’s successful offering; recent additions to the range include the following applications:
PART NO. DESCRIPTION APPLICATION
FO293R Driveshaft Ford C-MAX Mk2 1.6 TDCi (2010>)
VA263LR Driveshaft Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTi (2008>)
