NAPA Racing UK and Valvoline revisit the 1990’s with iconic livery for Donington Park GP

28 Aug 2025

NAPA Racing UK’s technical partner Valvoline celebrates its partnership with NAPA Racing UK and NAPA Auto Parts with the launch of this iconic livery for Donington Park GP 30th & 31st August.

The summer of 2025 has been unlike any other, with a resurgence of 1990s Britpop music, culture and fashion. To celebrate NAPA Racing UK’s partnership with technical partner Valvoline, it seemed only right to celebrate with a look back at the iconic Valvoline liveries of the mid-90s. The infamous Blue, White, and red Valvoline “V” livery defined the mid-90s for many motorsport fans, with Mark Martin and Robby Gordon winning in both NASCAR and IndyCar. In the UK, British Touring Car fans will have seen this livery on the 1995 Ford Mondeo’s.

The Ford Mondeo is one of the most successful cars to race in the “Super Touring” era of the British Touring Car Championship. Replacing the Ford Sierra, the V6-powered Mondeo made its debut in 1994 and was developed for the British circuits by 4-time British Touring Car Champion, Andy Rouse. In 1995, the Rouse-prepared Mondeos took to the track fitted in full “Super Touring” spec with splitters and wings, wearing the iconic Valvoline livery. In 1995, the Mondeos were driven by two-time World Touring Car Champion, New Zealander, Paul Radisich and 1993 British F3 Champion, Kelvin Burt.

To celebrate NAPA’s partnership with Valvoline, NAPA Racing has recreated these colours for the BTCC’s visit to Donington Park GP on the 30th and 31st August. At the East Midland circuit, both Ash Sutton and Dan Cammish’s Alliance Racing-prepared NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus will be sporting the 1995-inspired livery. Ash and Dan will also be wearing replica 1995 race suits together with their own Valvoline inspired race helmets.

Jarno Middelbosch, Valvoline Global Operations Marketing Director Europe said: “The 1990’s was a golden era for Valvoline in many motorsport categories, and especially BTCC. We are pleased to be able to replicate one of the most remembered liveries of that decade. Fans attending the race will also be able to purchase limited edition merchandise, inspired by the teamwear from 1995.”
NAPA Racing UK has been using VR1 Racing since their partnership with Valvoline commenced in 2022, and the oil is available in all NAPA Auto Parts Stores. Valvoline VR1 Racing oil was the world’s first branded oil specifically formulated to offer unique, proven molecular protection for high-performance engines operating under high shear, high temperatures and high speed (RPM) conditions. Valvoline’s Racing Oil celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and has become one of the best-selling racing oils of all time.

Oly Collins, NAPA Racing UK Team Manager said: “We’ve used VR1 Racing in our championship-winning cars for the past three years. It’s especially formulated for motorsport so that we can use it in the extreme conditions of our racing.”

NAPA’s national distributor, Alliance Automotive, is a distributor of Valvoline products in the UK and Ireland, available from all members, stores and affiliates. For more information and to locate your local distributor, visit https://napaautoparts.eu/en/find-stockist/
