Kilen are Brexit ready!

19 Mar 2019

Brexit ready!

Whilst the Brexit pantomime has been playing out, Kilen have taken steps to ensure their unrivalled availability of 99.9% is maintained whatever the outcome.

Should the UK leave the EU without a deal, World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules would automatically apply, potentially imposing tariffs on all coil springs entering the country. In addition, new customs arrangements would most likely mean long delays at channel ports, throwing up further challenges.

As well as maintaining a coil spring stock of around 450,000 units at their UK distribution centre, Kilen have been pro-active in ensuring no disruption and continued excellent availability.

Made in Britain

Kilen have been making springs of various kinds in Britain since 2007, and in recent years have worked to strengthen their production of automotive suspension springs; investing over £3M in new infrastructure, machinery and technologies in 2018 alone.

Kilen’s UK factory has a production capacity of 65,000 suspension coil springs per week. To further prepare for Brexit, Kilen have increased raw wire stocks markedly, with spring wire sourced from a leading global supplier which is not subject to tariffs, and shipped directly to UK ports.

Besides having the market-leading range and unrivalled next-day availability, Kilen recognise the need for a same-day delivery service, and their recent partnership with Marathon Warehouse Distribution will support this. Marathon is an independent national wholesale distributor, delivering a growing portfolio of brands from its 14 strategically-located distribution centres, and offering multiple same-day deliveries across GB.

Each of Marathon’s regional distribution centres stock an extensive range of Kilen Coil, Gas, and Leaf springs, with a massive 10,000 springs on the shelf at their national distribution centre in Redditch alone, giving over 99% availability.

As the UK aftermarket’s foremost supplier of automotive springs, Kilen provide the market-leading range of OE-quality products, with unsurpassed service to support sales growth for all customers. Kilen produce the world’s largest range of suspension coil springs, and all Kilen aftermarket springs are guaranteed to match or exceed OE quality.
