NGK Sponsors Greg Hancock

12 Sep 2018

NGK-sponsored four-time World Speedway champion Greg Hancock made the podium at the AZTORIN Slovenian FIM Speedway Grand Prix and now has his sights on a top three place in this year’s championship.

The American finished in third place in Krsko and after scoring 15 points is in sixth place in the 2018 championship, just eight points off third spot.

He said: “I want to win, but the win is pretty much out of the question as far as the overall championship.

“A medal spot is definitely not out of the question. It’s getting harder, but a couple more days like this and I am in striking distance. Things have to happen, as always, but I never give up.”

It was a disappointing night for fellow NGK-sponsored riders; Russian Emil Sayfutdinov scored just five points at the meeting which was won by Poland’s Patryk Dudek while Matej Zagar missed the meeting in his homeland after suffering concussion after crashing at a recent meeting.

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd Marketing Manager Mark Hallam said: “Greg’s fine performance in Slovenia has put him right back in contention for a top three spot in the championship and I’m sure he will be looking to further improve his position at the German Grand Prix later this month.”

NGK – a leading supplier of original equipment (OE) spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK Lambda and other engine management sensors – is a long-standing supporter of Speedway and sponsors a number of top riders as well as the Wolverhampton Wolves Speedway team.
