Since January this year, genuine claims from UK customers have been processed more quickly with detailed reports to explain the decision behind the validity of warranty claims. Teamed with investments made to improve customer service and training initiatives for installers, Gates has seen a fall in overall numbers of invalid claims.
As this warranty claim system has been well received by customers, non-labour claims will be managed the same way, starting September.
Customers with non-labour warranties will be required to process them through the FPS eWarranty module, just like labour claims which will be reviewed at the Gates Technical Centre in Belgium. Claims and reports will be returned to customers within 28 days with valid claims being credited after inspection.
As timing belt replacements in modern vehicles have become a specialist task, many replacement jobs would require engine-specific tools and training to complete the job correctly. When motor factors offer technicians reliable tools for belt drive system replacements, they help decrease the likelihood of having to deal with premature warranty claims as a result of improper tools.
The Gates TechPartner scheme provides installers various benefits including an added two-year warranty on top of the standard two-year term, in exchange for the commitment to accept Gates training and only use the correct tools for the job. By offering installers with a chance to apply for the Gates TechPartner scheme from their premises, motor factors who stock the Gates range may potentially enjoy repeat sales and less hassle of warranty claims.
